Job Overview
We are seeking a technically-minded Project Manager to join our high-performing team of environmental professionals. This position is ideal for a mid- to senior-level consultant with 8–15 years of experience managing environmental remediation, investigation, and compliance projects through state and federal regulatory programs within the states that comprise the U.S. EPA Region 5 area. The ideal candidate will have experience liaising with clients and regulators and managing technical teams in delivering high-quality solutions and work products. This role will support ongoing projects in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan—with opportunities to contribute to across the U.S..
We welcome candidates from diverse technical backgrounds, including geology, environmental science, chemistry, biology, and engineering. What matters most is your ability to manage complex projects, build and foster effective project teams, build client relationships, and deliver strategic value.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage and lead remediation and investigation projects under CERCLA, RCRA, and state regulatory programs.
Serve as client liaison and primary point of contact for technical and regulatory matters.
Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and quality for multi-media investigations (soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water).
Support and manage monitored natural attenuation (MNA) and enhanced in-situ bioremediation remediation projects.
Prepare and review technical deliverables, including work plans, investigation reports, risk assessments, and other regulatory submittals.
Present findings and project updates to clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
Provide mentorship to junior team members and foster a collaborative team culture.
Identify and support business development opportunities within existing and new client accounts.
Ensure compliance with EHS Support’s health and safety protocols and client-specific requirements.
Specific Experience and Skills
8–15 years of environmental consulting experience, preferably in project or major task management roles
Familiarity with state and federal EPA, regulatory frameworks
Demonstrated success with environmental investigation and cleanup programs
Experience with MNA and/or enhanced in-situ bioremediation technologies
Experience implementing and managing field programs
Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills
Ability to manage teams, budgets, and client expectations effectively
Proficiency with technical tools (e.g., Excel, databases, GIS, and/or modeling tools)
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain)
Travel flexibility, based on project and client needs)
Education and Licenses
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
Professional licensure (e.g., PG, PE) is a plus
