Part-Time Remediation System Operation and Maintenance Technician

Job Summary: The O&M Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment associated with various remediation systems including soil vapor extraction, in-situ injection, and groundwater pump and treatment. This role ensures the efficient and effective functioning of the systems to meet regulatory and safety standards, and will function on a part-time, as needed basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor remediation equipment and systems, including pumps, motors, valves, and control systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform compliance sampling of remediation systems (e.g., system influent, treated effluent discharge, etc.) according to NPDES and AQMD permits.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and equipment performance.
  • Collect soil vapor, indoor air, groundwater, soil, sediment, and/or surface water samples in accordance with work plan procedures and quality control requirements.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and address any issues promptly.
  • Contribute to completion of routine operation and maintenance reports.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and provide support during shutdowns or outages.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations and maintenance, preferably in a treatment plant or similar industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
  • Able to travel on short notice to Tecumseh, MI.
