Senior Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Auditor

The Role

EHS Support Canada is seeking a Senior Environmental, Health, and/or Safety Auditor residing in Quebec or Ontario to join our growing team of professionals dedicated to offering outstanding services to our clients. This position offers rewarding and innovative projects in a virtual work setting with tremendous opportunities for professional development.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will fall within the technical expertise and execution focus area, as part of the core technical team within Canada. After onboarding and learning our client service programs, your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Working with clients to design and implement EHS audit programs to mitigate risks in operations by:
    • Planning audit schedules and identifying stakeholders’ goals for audit programs.
    • Scoping audit programs to focus on occupational health, safety, and environmental risks.
    • Preparing audit teams, protocols, and engaging client sites in a collaborative audit process.
    • Assess client facilities by leading comprehensive audits with EHS Support experts.
    • Provide informed well-crafted concise findings that specify sustainable solutions.
  • Work with clients to support their operations by being a reliable partner working through operational challenges, building relationships, and increasing service offerings.
  • Ability to learn local legislative requirements for workplace health and safety in multiple jurisdictions across Canada.
  • Conduct training, field coaching, and assessments for safety performance both internally and for clients to promote safe environmentally sound workplaces.
  • Assists in the coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, focus audits, and incident investigations.
  • Willing to develop expertise to implement and coordinate legislated programs such as laser safety, radiation safety, respiratory protection, and designated substances (monitoring, control program, and health surveillance).
  • Preparing written programs to meet individual regulatory standards and client needs.
  • Analyzing, synthesizing, and modelling information and data and writing concise evidence-based exposure history reports outlining the potential for and prevention of exposures.
  • Assess regulatory compliance across various safety programs and environmental media.
  • Provide technical assistance on safety-related compliance projects, safety management system development and implementation, safety oversight, and industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Provide on-site health and safety compliance support at client facilities.
  • Able to enjoy project management and manage multiple project activities within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Assist EHS Support Managers and Service Line Teams in managing and delivering quality projects.

Qualifications/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or health discipline (nursing, toxicology, ergonomics, etc.)
  • At least 5 to 7 years experience as an Environmental, Health, and/or Safety Specialist in a manufacturing, auditing, or consulting environment.
  • Knowledge of Provincial EHS Regulations and ability to develop expertise (experience with US EHS is highly desirable)
  • Ability to lead team/audit teams after onboarding.
  • Sense of responsibility and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English

Highly Qualified Candidates

  • Proven experience in Environmental or Health and Safety program management.
  • CRSP, CSP, CIH, Professional Engineer/ Geologist or have a desire to obtain a certification.
  • French fluency or French intermediate skills working towards fluency is highly desirable.
