JOB DESCRIPTION:?

This opportunity is for a flexible, self-motivated, and innovative individual with an interest in providing senior level technical direction, strategic project planning, and developing high-quality work products for our wide variety of clients. The successful individual will be an integral team member that will provide technical leadership for our remediation and sediment/risk assessment service lines for environmental investigation, remediation, and water resources projects located throughout the United States and, potentially, internationally. Primary responsibilities in this role will be focused on working with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals developing project solutions and high-quality work products. The successful team member will have additional opportunities to support the growth of our technical practice, expand our client portfolio, and mentor staff along their career path. Key to success will be the ability to work contemporaneously across multiple projects and advise the project teams to ensure quality and value for our clients and reduce/remove risks that impact project success. This expert-level professional will support project managers and technical teams with skills in the follow areas:

  • Listen: Absorb the information needed to maintain an understanding of project objectives and an awareness of how the team is strategically planning and executing the project.
  • Think: Identify potential issues and draw on experience and expertise to identify potential outcomes and alternative approaches or perspectives.
  • Advise: Evoke critical thinking by asking questions, posing alternative ideas, and exposing potential pitfalls and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate: Support project teams in developing a strategic vision and identifying resources and methods to succeed.

Required experience and expertise include:

  • Bachelor’s level degree or post-graduate degree in civil or environmental engineering. Professional engineer licensing strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of professional experience with at least 10+ years of environmental consulting experience.
  • Remedial system design (e.g., groundwater treatment, soil vapor extraction, injection technologies, etc.) and development of as-built drawings.
  • Design of civil remedies for excavation, grading, stormwater drainage management, and capping alternatives.
  • Remedial system optimization, operation, and maintenance.
  • Development of engineering specifications and bid packages.
  • Development of engineering cost estimates.
  • Construction oversight and contractor direction.
  • Highly rated candidates will also have expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Landfill design
  • Landfill leachate management systems
  • NAPL recovery and management
  • Electrical power and control systems
  • Renewable energy systems
  • Knowledge of industrial processes.
  • Remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and remedial alternatives evaluations.
  • Performance monitoring program design, evaluation, and optimization.
  • Technical reporting (work plans, remedial action plans, etc.).
  • Preparation of RCRA, NPDES and air discharge permit applications.
  • Project and task management – planning and implementation of scope, schedule, budget.
  • Strong understanding federal and state environmental regulations and technical guidance.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Writing examples and/or completion of a test exercise may be requested.
  • Ability to apply adaptive engineering problem solving.
  • Strong understanding of the consulting business model.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality work products.
  • Skill in fostering team collaboration to enhance project outcomes, accompanied by a strong willingness to provide support and mentorship to colleagues in their professional growth.
  • Comfortable working in a remote office setting.
  • Able to stimulate discussion and drive project teams to decisions with limited time/information on a given project.
  • Able to work across multiple projects at the same time (can work in parallel, not in series).
  • Ability to develop presentations and facilitate a meeting – effectively delivering key messages and managing the discussion.
  • Effective “networker”, able to develop relationships with clients at many levels and identify and grow existing business opportunities.
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually, as well as translate strategy into practical and tactical plans.
  • Displays integrity through honesty, fairness, & respect.
