Process Safety Management/Health & Safety Specialist

About The Role

This role is for a flexible, self-motivated, innovative individual with experience providing technical direction, managing project deliverables, and offering compliance solutions regarding process safety management (PSM), risk management, and health and safety (H&S). Primary responsibilities will fall within the technical expertise and execution focus area, as part of the core technical team within the Business Services Group.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess regulatory compliance across various H&S and PSM programs by performing facility H&S and PSM compliance audits.
  • Implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct occupational exposure surveys for noise, lighting, and air contaminants.
  • Design and implement safety management systems, safety programs, policies, procedures, plans, trainings, job safety analyses (JSAs) and reports for clients.
  • Participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs) with experience with Hazard & Operability Analysis (HAZOP), and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and What-if methodologies at a technical expert, safety expert, or scribe level.
  • Conduct safety and integrity analysis, quantitative risk analysis, process safety management auditing and facility siting surveys.
  • Read and manipulate piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) when required.
  • Conduct training, field coaching, and assessments for safety performance internally and for clients.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Provide on-site H&S compliance support at client facilities.
  • Manage or support multiple project activities within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Ability to complete assignments on an accelerated timeline as needed.

Qualifications/Education

  • Minimum of 7 years of PSM and/or H&S professional experience in industrial and chemical environments.
  • Highly proficient in using PHA Pro software, Leader, or comparable software.
  • Experience developing plans for presenting and leading PHAs, including: HAZOP, LOPA, and What-if methodologies, for the oil & gas and petrochemical industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA General and Construction Industry standards and EPA RMP standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and state OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Experienced in authoring comprehensive technical reports.
  • Experience developing or aligning corporate management standards or site-specific standard.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a virtual environment.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365

Highly Qualified Candidates

  • Certification in field; ASP/CSP, PSM Leader, CPSA, CIH, CHMM, PE, or similar registration highly desirable.
  • Expertise in EHS management systems (ISO 14001/45001/OHSAS 18001) a plus.
