About the Role

EHS Support is currently looking for a Senior Compliance Specialist to lead a team within the Business Services Group. This role is a management position designed to support the success of the individuals within your group. Team Leads are a go-to contact for employees with their day-to-day challenges and a leader in performance management to support the growth and development of the individuals in their team. You will be responsible for managing project delivery, assisting with auditing and regulatory compliance projects and environmental due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental due diligence support for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including ASTM Phase I environmental site assessments.
  • Assist with multimedia permitting, i.e. air, water, waste: providing compliance support in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations by:
    • Permitting, sampling, and reporting.
    • Data handling and analysis.
    • Conducting regulatory research.
  • Perform on-site environmental, health and safety (EH&S) compliance support at client facilities including but not limited to:
    • Classification, inventory, and handling of hazardous materials.
    • Auditing regulatory compliance and management systems at the plant and corporate level.
    • Developing EH&S management training materials.
    • Traveling to and participating in field activities.
  • Establish, build, and lead projects, operations, and business activities.
  • Team Management:
    • Oversee and manage team members within service line.
    • Actively participate in the recruitment, integration, and career planning of team members.
  • Support employee career progression, by facilitating annual performance reviews and goal setting, and quarterly progress check-ins.
  • Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert (SME) for team members.

Qualifications/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in science preferred
  • 10-15 years of direct experience in environmental compliance programs, including CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, and environmental due diligence, environmental compliance auditing and support, and related consulting with a solid foundation in technical and regulatory subject areas, specifically understanding of:
  • U.S. federal and state environmental regulations (knowledge of state-specific and any international regulations a plus) Prior management experience required and developing others.
  • U.S. health, safety, and transportation regulatory programs
  • EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001)
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ASTM 1527-21)
  • Language and methods of M&A transactions and environmental due diligence, liability estimates, and environmental risk mitigation
  • Experience with leading and conducting environmental compliance audits, assessments, and inspections to determine compliance with Federal, state, and local standards and company and agency environmental policies and procedures.

Highly Qualified Candidates

  • Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), ISO 14001 Lead Auditor training, or other environmental management certification is highly desired.
